This Workshop Sucks
This Workshop Sucks
Yes, that's the name, and yes, that's the point. If you've ever caught yourself side-eyeing the perfect purple circles on an athletes’ back and wondered what on earth happened to them, this one's for you.
Dry Cupping is a technique that works with your body rather than against it. If a deep tissue massage pushes down into muscle, dry cupping uses mechanical suction to create negative pressure. This results in a decompression of the myofascial layers underneath the skin: the fascia & connective tissues, the stuff that quietly holds tension long after a workout or a hard week has passed.
Think of it like a massage from the inside out - lifting the connective tissue can ease tension, that “stuck-feeling”, and support circulation to the area, and give you more room to move beyond restriction. Over three hours, Justine and Amanda cover both the how and the why; you'll learn safe, practical self-cupping techniques you can actually use at home, including where to place cups, how much suction is enough, which areas respond well and also, which to leave alone. Get to understand the anatomy behind it, so you understand what's actually happening under the cup rather than just following the steps. They’ll also discuss the marks cupping can leave: what they are, why they show up and, what they're not, so there are no surprises when you look in the mirror after class. There will also be time for somatic movement before, between and after to check in with how your body is feeling.
This workshop will suit you if :
- You're curious about self-massage and self-care tools you can use outside your movement practice
- You deal with tight, sore, or stubborn muscles after training, work, or daily life and need a little more than “a bit of a stretch”
- You want to understand your own tissue and fascia better, not just be told what to do with it
- You've seen cupping around and want the real explanation, not what you can glean from a 45 second Instagram reel
- You're completely new to cupping and want to start with proper technique and real information
*No experience needed. We'll move at a pace that leaves room for questions, for going slowly when you need to, and for genuinely understanding your own body a little better by the end.
What to wear: Naturally, dry cupping requires access to the skin! We recommend wearing shorts, or pant style that can be rolled up, and a top that gives access to the shoulders and chest, such as singlets/tanks or racer-back style tops.
Some notes before you book: cupping isn't suitable for everyone, so if you have a bleeding or clotting condition, fragile or broken skin, or are unsure whether it's right for you, please have a chat with us (you can DM us on Instagram) or speak to your healthcare provider first. We'll also cover contraindications in the session itself.
